South London has more dental practices than any other part of the city: 694 of them, spread across 12 boroughs from Southwark and Lambeth down to Bromley, Croydon and Sutton. If you are choosing between them, two things are worth knowing before you start ringing round: prices here are well below central London, and they vary more between neighbouring boroughs than most people expect.

What treatment costs in South London

Inner South London boroughs, the ones closest to the river, price closer to central. The further out you go, the more the prices drop, with Sutton the notable exception on orthodontics.

277 South London practices hold an NHS contract, which is 40% of the total. That is a better ratio than central London, where it is 14%. Holding a contract is not the same as taking on new patients, though, and most South London practices with NHS lists are currently full for adults.

Bromley has the most NHS practices in the region at 35, followed by Croydon at 32 and Lambeth at 30. Merton and Richmond have the fewest, at 12 and 13, so if you are looking for NHS care in either you will probably need to look at a neighbouring borough.

South London practices average 4.59 out of 5 on Google. Richmond upon Thames has the highest average in the region at 4.76, followed by Kingston at 4.68.
